Banana and avocado production has increased in Honde valley as plans to establish a horticultural processing plant at Hauna Growth Point gather momentum, a project being spearheaded by the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small to Medium Enterprises dvelopment. Manicaland Provincial Development Officer in the Ministry Mr Gabriel Jaji said they are in the process of registering the processing plant for it to operate as a company as they wait for the arrival of the equipment in October. He added that the plant will boost economic growth and address challenges currently being faced by horticultural producers. This follows a US$500 000 grant from the African Development Bank (ADB), which is coming through the International Labour Organisation (ILO) to Government.
