A Buhera man will spend the next 25 years behind bars after being convicted of murdering his mother. 27-year-old Sincewile Gumbere appeared before Mutare High Court Judge; Justice Isaac Muzenda and pleaded guilty to striking Tendai Chimwata aged 55 on the head with a burning log after a minor misunderstanding. State prosecutor, Janerose Matsikidze told the court that sometime in July 2019, Chimwata returned home from a beer drinking and found the accused sleeping outside near a fire but an argument ensued after she ignored her son’s demands that she stopped singing as she was disturbing her sleep. In a separate incident Police in Chibuwe have arrested a 48-year-old man for allegedly murdering his uncle over witchcraft allegations. Manicaland Police deputy spokesperson Assistant inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the incident saying Posani Madhura assaulted Simon Mateya Sithole in Dakate bushes after accusing him of witchcraft which consequently caused the death of his late father Samson. Assistant inspector Chinyoka added that Sithole’s son, Chengetayi later called the police, informing them of the matter.
