A 50-year-old man from Mapara village under Chief Mutasa has appeared in court facing charges of prospecting for gold without a license at Dzadza plot in Penhalonga. David Mukuna pleaded not guilty to the charges when he appeared before Mutare Magistrate Langton Carter.

The court heard that on 21 September, the police received information that they were illegal gold panners at Dzadza plot and upon reaching the place the gold-panners fled and David was caught. Prosecutor Thurston Mubvumbi presided over the case and the trial will resume in October.
