Honde Valley villagers have bemoaned shortage of mini banana and avocado processing factories in their area sighting an increase in the number road accidents claiming lives of people intending to transport their produce to Harare. Honde Valley Tea Growers Association Chairperson Eliah Matsikira said the construction of mini factories will boost the processing and canning of their produce locally, adding that at least 112 people have to date lost their lives while transporting their produce in overloaded trucks, since 2020. Last week, two separate road accidents in Nyanga and Rusape claimed 6 lives whilst injuring 17 farmers who were transporting an assortment of fruits and vegetables for sale to larger markets.
