Marange Community in Mutare Rural is set to benefit from a program called “Feed the Future Zimbabwe” initiated by Environmental Buddies Zimbabwe in collaboration with Chemonics for the propagation of orange sweet potatoes and improve food security in the area. In an interview, EBZ director Shamiso Winnet Mupara said the project is targeting 20,000 smallholder farmers in Manicaland with innovative technical training and assistance to increase their productivity and bolster sales and improve household nutrition while ultimately reducing poverty and hunger in dry areas like Marange. She added that after the propagation the sweet potatoes tubers will be distributed to the targeted groups who are the young people child headed families and women.
