Fruit and vegetable farmers in Ward 16 Chimanimani District are working on the extension of their farming land to increase hectarage owing to adequate inputs this farming season. Zimbabwe Farmers Union, Districts Chairperson Lovemore Simbi says due to the demand of horticultural produce in local and international markets, the increase in hectarage will assist farmers to earn more and increase their production thereby improving livelihoods for smallholder farmers in the area. Government through the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) is reviving horticultural production with a focus on exports as well as improved household nutrition.
