Farmers under Nyamaropa and Nyakomba Irrigation schemes in Nyanga have bemoaned the lack of market for green peas saying the low sales have a negative bearing on their production. In an interview, Zimbabwe Farmers Union Nyanga District Chairperson Ezeria Masamvu said there is need for value addition of the crop through contracting of farmers as a way forward to enable penetration of the product into the market. With the country targeting increased foreign currency receipts, smallholder participation and value addition have been cited as key to the growth of horticulture exports.
