GMB worker faces charges of stealing 34 by 50kg bags of fertilizer

A Grain Marketing Board (GMB) worker based at Chipinge Deport has appeared at the local court facing charges of stealing 34 by 50kg bags of Compound D fertilizer bags of fertilizer worth $108 000 from the Presidential Inputs Scheme.

Tinashe Mafashu aged 49 who is a stores controller has denied the allegations when he appeared before Chipinge Magistrate, Elizabeth Hanzi recently who then remanded him out of custody.

Prosecutor, Delia Kathazile told the court that from May 17, 2021, Compound D fertilizer deliveries were made to GMB Chipinge under the 2021 Presidential Farming Inputs Scheme and the accused was solely responsible for the counting and taking stock of the fertilizers as the stores controller.
