Sawdusts to be used as a source of energy for brick curing

Tonnes of sawdust being produced in the province from timber processing activities are set to be used as a source of energy for brick curing following establishment of a brick plant in Penhalonga. In an interview, on the side lines of a Beta Holdings brick plant’s stakeholder consultative meeting in Penhalonga recently, Forestry Commission Provincial Extension Manager Mr Philip Tomu hailed the imminent use of sawdust in brick curing when BETA holdings commence operations in August this year, adding that it will reduce pollution emanating from timber shavings. Meanwhile, BETA International CEO Godfrey Manhambara pledged to employ environmentally friendly practice in their operations.
