20 deaths from Measles have been recorded in Mutasa District, while one hundred and twenty are still active cases. Mutare District Medical Officer Dr Cephas Fonte told said that in response to the outbreak, which started on 10 April, over 65 000 people have since been vaccinated and efforts are ongoing to keep the disease under control. He extended the call for vaccination to religious objectors urging them to be responsible parents to their children. A village health worker in Mandeya area reported the first case on 10 April after last being reported in 2010 when a number of children had died in Marange.
