Information, Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services Deputy Minister, Honourable Dingumuzi Phuti says government has come up with policies meant to ensure service availability and affordability in remote areas, notably through the Community Information Centre's around the country which guarantee internet service access at no cost for under-served communities.

Speaking at a stakeholder meeting held at a local hotel yesterday, Honourable Phuti said the computerization of schools and construction of ICT labs have gone a long way in ensuring that students access ICT services at affordable rates, thereby bridging the digital divide:

He however acknowledged that both licensed operators and the users of telecommunications services in the sector have faced various challenges, which his ministry is determined to address, with assistance from other stakeholders.
