A local organization has urged Environment Authorities to establish fire fighting stations across the province as part of initiatives to minimise black carbon emissions affecting the climate.

In an interview, Zivai Community Empowerment Trust Coordinator Mildret Muzanechita said communities in Manicaland have over time fallen victim to climate change induced storms and cyclones, highlighting that fire fighting stations and initiatives will lessen carbon emissions that contribute to these predicaments.

Meanwhile the Environmental Management Agency is on record revealing that farms and estates in Manicaland have lost agricultural produce and equipment worth millions of dollars to veld fires.
