The Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe is advocating enforcement of laws that compels heavy and public vehicles to be fitted with speed limiting devices commonly known as speed governors in a bid to curtail road carnage. In an interview, TSCZ acting Director Operations, Claudious Muzuwa emphasized the importance for compliance to traffic regulations by public transport operators and drivers to reduce fatalities on the country’s roads. His sentiments follow concerns raised by various stakeholders over fatalities recorded during the recent Easter Holiday where a bus crash claimed 37 lives in Chipinge while another accident claimed four lives in Nyanga.
