Minister of Environment, Cilmate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Honorable Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndlovu has called for collaborative efforts to address deforestation in the country. In a speech read on his behalf during the International Day of Forests held at Mt Selinda High School in Chipinge recently by Chief director Prosper Matonde , Honourable Ndlovu said Zimbabwe is working hard to fulfil the Six Global Forest Goals which include the commitment to reverse the loss of forest cover through Sustainable Forest Management, enhance Forest-based economic, social and environmental benefits and increase significantly the area of protected forests and other sustainably managed forests. He further expressed concerns over the rate at which Zimbabwe is losing forests highlighting that the nation is losing forest resources at an average rate of approximately 262 349 ha per annum in the last decade saying more action is needed to halt deforestation
