The delegation of the European Union to Zimbabwe has described City of Mutare’s level of citizen engagement and social inclusion as encouraging following its adoption and use of an electronic system to track daily activities by the local authority called the Local Authority Digital System (LADS).
Giving remarks after a tour to check progress on the implementation of the system EU delegations head of cooperation Franck Porte expressed willingness to continue working with City of Mutare following its achievements. Speaking at the same occasion City Mayor Councillor Simon Chabuka expressed gratitude to the continued support they are getting from EU, further inviting them to scale up their support to ensure Mutare becomes a world class city. The LADS initiative has elevated public finance management among other services at City of Mutare
