City of Mutare says plans are on course to end special rates such as school and road levies following an out cry by residents, further highlighting that the general consensus is to end charging of the rates before year-end.

Addressing Mutare residents during a virtual meeting yesterday, Acting Town Clerk Mr Blessing Chafesuka said the local authority is going to consult residents before putting an end to the rates. He further revealed that they have staggered the 20% increment on tariffs to avoid a once off hike which has been described as burdening for ratepayers by stakeholders.
