Poaching at Mapembe Nature Reserve

Stakeholders have expressed concern over continuous pouching of wild animals at Mapembe Nature Reserve calling for interventions for responsible authorities. Mapembe Nature Reserve Secretary, Mr David Muchero said they lost 18 Elands and 21 Zebras since the establishment of the nature reserve, highlighting that there is need to upgrade the security of the area. Responding to the matter, Permanent Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Mr Edgars Seenza said there are plans to relocated the 2 Zebras left till the perimeter fence of the area is improved.
