Horticulture season in Makoni

Horticultural planting season has begun in Makoni district with the area under emerging crops increasing this year owing to more farmers venturing into horticulture. Makoni District Agritex Officer Joseph Chipere said crop varieties that include tomatoes and vegetables have already been planted, adding that they are set to expand market for horticultural produce as they only have one market in their area. Government through the National development strategy 1 is set to revive horticultural production with a focus on exports as well as improved household nutrition.
