Manicaland has recorded low tomato production owing to high amounts of rainfall received in the province last month, a situation which a has negatively affected the livelihoods of smallholder farmers who solely rely on tomato production. Provincial Agritex Horticulture expert Douglas Nzarayebani said that only a few farmers across the province are distributing their produce to markets with others starting to transplant their nurseries in preparation for the next season. Tomato production which constitute the year round horticulture agro-business of Manicaland thrives in warmer temperatures.
