Cotton farming has declined in Chipinge this year with the development attributed to Cottco’s failure to pay farmers’ arrears from the previous years.

Chipinge Cotton field officer Mavhuto Dalitso said that farmers have decided to do away with the white gold and are now venturing into other crops like Sesame/Ruminga Crop which they say has a readily market in Mozambique He further said delays in payment have resulted in some farmers smuggling cotton into Mozambique for cash.
