Farmers in Manicaland have been urged to major on uniformity of their crops to avoid losses. Agronomist Clemence Mucharedzeyi expressed concern that some farmers are still replanting in fields where maize is already at an advanced stage; adding that maintaining uniformity among crops will reduce their competition for nutrients. Also in farming Makoni District commercial farmers have been advised to start applying top dressing fertilizer as their maize crop has since passed the stage. 50 000 hectares of maize have been planted at a target of 65 hectares across the district.
