The Meteorological Services Department predicts that heavy rains are expected in most parts of Manicaland today. Agriculture Meteorologist Benjamin Kwenda said although some parts will receive lesser rainfall, an increase is expected over the weekend. Meanwhile farmers have been urged to capitalize on conservation agriculture or use of irrigation to mitigate dry spells during this summer cropping season despite predictions of heavy rains. Zimbabwe Farmers Union Provincial Manager, Dennis Chisevure says that mulching applied in conservation agriculture will go a long way in maintaining moisture during dry spells.
