Chief Mutasa emphasizes need to protect girl child

The move by the ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs to reach out to rural communities with aim to enlighten villagers on provisions of the constitution has been applauded for emphasizing on the need to protect the girl child from various forms of violence and abuse. Speaking on the sidelines of the outreach program in Mutasa recently Chief Mutasa denounced harmful cultural practices such as use of the girl child for appeasing the dead known as “kuripa ngozi” and “kutema ugariri” as well as child marriages, saying the outreach is paramount in combating such practices in society.
