Austria has become the first country in western Europe to reimpose a full COVID-19 lockdown since the start of summer as infections again rise sharply there. Austria is also making vaccinations compulsory from February - the first for any Western democracy. Two-thirds of Austrians have been inoculated against the coronavirus, which is on the low side for western Europe.
