70% of schools lack ICT equipment

Manicaland Acting Provincial Education Director Mr Charles Muganhu says approximately 70% of schools in the province mainly those in Rural Areas do not have ICT equipment, with most learners only doing ICT theory lessons. Mr Muganhu urged various stakeholders to come on board and complement government efforts to provide needy schools with the equipment to elevate ICT studies in the institutions. Meanwhile Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services minister, Dr Jenfan Muswere said government continues to avail ICT equipment as part of Government strategy to bridge the digital divide between rural and urban schools as the nation is on the drive towards a digital economy by the year 2030.
