The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Tourism and Hospitality Industry says plans are on course to further capacitate local authorities to implement sustainable waste management as means to effect adaptation and mitigation measures against climate change. Speaking to the media on climate change recently, Climate Change Management Department Deputy Director Kudzai Ndidzano said the department has plans to set up climate change desks in local authorities across the country, City of Mutare included. The move also aims at formulating measures to reduce methane gas emission from local authorities’ waste dumpsites.
