35k tones of wheat harvest expected in Manicaland this year

The Agricultural, Technical and Extension Services Department (Agritex) in Manicaland says it is expecting over 35 000 tones of wheat in the province this year. Provincial Agritex Officer Mrs Philipa Rwambiwa said 8 800 hectares of land was placed under wheat this year for a minimum of 4,5 tones of wheat per hectare with farmers in areas like Headlands and Odzi expecting as high as 8 tones per hectare. She added that while some farmers have already started harvesting others will start during the second week of October.
