The Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Small and Medium Enterprises says gender-based violence and rape cases have surged in Manicaland in recent months.  District Development Officer in the ministry Gabriel Jaji told Diamond FM that as part of their action to curtail these malpractices, they have launched traditional awareness campaigns to conscientize communities. He also urged the public to report any abuse to the authorities, so that offenders can be brought to book and that victims of gender-based violence can get professional help at the nearest one-stop centers where they can receive legal, medical, and counseling services.
